I am delighted to welcome Hampshire-based stone carver Zoë Wilson to Rachel Bebb Contemporary this October. Her exhibition, Presence Through Precision, will run from 3 – 25 October, with a Private View by invitation only on Friday 3 October from 5–8pm, and an open day on Saturday 4 October from 11–4pm.

Zoë is a rising figure in the world of contemporary art, known for her contemplative, pattern-led work carved entirely by hand. Originally trained in lettering and stone carving at the renowned City & Guilds of London Art School, Zoë's practice is grounded in geometry, repetition and meditative focus. Her work has been exhibited at Collect, the British Craft Pavilion and at galleries and craft fairs across the UK. Based in the Hampshire countryside, she works from a quiet studio surrounded by nature – a setting that deeply informs her commitment to slow, intentional making.
In an age of mass production and relentless pace, Zoë's work offers an invitation to pause.
Zoë says, “In a fast world, precision has become a quiet luxury, something rare, unhurried, and deeply human. This exhibition invites you to slow down. Each piece has been hand-carved in British stone using traditional tools: mallet, chisel, and time. The patterns you see are not machine-perfect, but the result of patient focus, geometry shaped by rhythm, breath, and touch.
Here, precision is not about perfection, it is about presence. Each line is a decision, each surface, a moment held. There is no rush. The stone does not ask for it.
These works are not designed to shout, but to absorb. To draw the eye in, gently, until the rhythm of the pattern becomes felt rather than seen. Until thought softens into stillness and looking becomes a kind of listening.
In choosing this way of working, slow, deliberate, and enduring, the artist offers a quiet alternative to a culture of speed and disposability. The values are subtle, but they are there: care, clarity, permanence. A slower way of working. A quieter way of being.”
Alongside Zoë’s work, a selection of pieces by other gallery artists will also be on show separately.
More information, including images and pricing, will be available soon. In the meantime, please save the date!
3-25 October 2025
